SRWA Applauds Speaker Christine Quinn’s Push for Ferry Service In Five Boroughs
February 13th, 2008 at 12:41 pmSRWA pleads for ferry service back to Bay Ridge and Sunset Park
At her State of the City address, Speaker Christine Quinn stated her intentions for a five-borough, year round NYC ferry system (that the mayor has agreed to begin developing). This effort is well received as the first formal statement by City Hall to address the growing need for ferry service in all boroughs of NYC.
The Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance is in full support of Speaker Quinn’s intentions, and hopes that this will mean restoring ferry service to both Bay Ridge (69th St. Veteran’s Memorial Pier) and Sunset Park (58th Street, Brooklyn Army Terminal) in Brooklyn.
It is clear that much planning will need to take place for this goal to be realized. In the meantime, SRWA is continuing to build more signatures in support of ferry service reinstatement through an online petition located at: www.srwalliance.org (There are currently over 1,500 signatures to date).
The Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance (SRWA) is committed to re-invigorating the waterfront areas of Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Through creative collaboration, sustainable partnerships, educational initiatives, and greener transportation alternatives, SRWA is committed to enriching the lives of the citizens of Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, and beyond.
