Ferry Service and PlaNYC 2030
Ferry service is a very real and viable method of transportation in modern cities. New York City, with its miles of waterfront communities and auto congestion problems, can especially benefit from ferry service.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has established a plan to bring NYC into the 21st century as a more sustainable city. The SRWA feels that increased use of the ferry service will have a tremendous benefit for people in these communities, and we hope that the city will do everything it can to consider wide use of this enjoyable and low-impact mode of transportation.
